Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly greeted and promptly escorted to your designated hotel. Located in the geographical region between India and Tibet, the Kingdom of Nepal is renowned for being home to Mount Everest, often referred to as the Shangri La of the East. Kathmandu serves as the capital and largest city of Nepal, boasting a significant number of temples within its boundaries. The number of festivals celebrated exceeds the total number of days in a calendar year. The valley is home to seven cultural sites that have been included in the prestigious World Heritage Site list. The city seamlessly integrates culture with contemporary society, serving as the administrative capital of the country while also boasting a rich historical heritage. This evening, you have the opportunity to explore Thamel, a vibrant blend of craft shops, boutique cafes, trekking gear stores, and colorful prayer flags. The clean and narrow streets of the area are teeming with a multitude of lodges and budget hotels. During the evening hours, Thamel transforms into a vibrant spectacle, adorned with an array of illuminated lights, delicate paper lanterns, and eye-catching neon signs that adorn the various dining establishments.
Today's itinerary begins with a visit to Swayambhunath, commonly referred to as the "Monkey Temple." Swayambhunath is a renowned Buddhist Stupa and UNESCO World Heritage Site with a history spanning over 2000 years. The prominent white dome and shimmering golden spire can be observed from a considerable distance, encompassing all areas of the valley. The four-sided base of the spire features the depiction of Lord Buddha's all-seeing eyes. The 'third eye' is positioned above each pair of eyes, symbolizing the profound insight gained through introspection. Proceed to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Durbar Square, also known as the "meeting place," serves as the focal point of historic Kathmandu. It is a prominent congregation of temples and shrines adorned with exquisite carvings. One will have the opportunity to visit the renowned temple of Kasthamandap, which is believed to have been constructed using timber sourced from a singular tree. Additionally, there is the three-storied Akash Bhairav Temple, dedicated to the deity of the sky, and Hanuman Dhoka, the historical royal palace named after the revered monkey god. One can access the Nasal Chowk courtyard by entering through the entrance gate of Hanuman Dhoka. Proceed to the Temple of the Living Goddess, also known as Kumari House, where it is possible to observe the "Kumari" through one of the accessible windows that offer a view of the inner courtyard. The Kumari tradition in Nepal involves the veneration of young girls as embodiments of the divine feminine energy, known as "Devi," within the Hindu religious customs.
Following the lunch session, there will be a scheduled drive to Patan, a renowned ancient Buddhist city recognized as Lalitpur, or the esteemed city of fine arts. Patan, located in the valley, is recognized as one of the three royal cities. It boasts a plethora of exquisite wood and stone carvings, as well as metal statues, showcasing its rich artistic heritage. The city's ornate architecture is adorned with numerous Buddhist and Hindu temples, along with an impressive collection of over 1200 monuments. The tour concludes with a visit to the Tibetan Handicraft Centre. The Tibetan Handicraft Centre was founded in 1960 with the support of the Red Cross and the Swiss Development Corporation. Its primary objective is to facilitate employment opportunities for Tibetan refugees. At this location, visitors have the opportunity to witness the intricate process of crafting traditional carpets and handicrafts, such as prayer wheels, which are subsequently made available for purchase in souvenir shops.
This morning, embark on a journey to Chitwan, which is estimated to take approximately 6 hours by car. Chitwan National Park, Nepal's inaugural national park, was established in 1962 under the patronage of the late King Mahendra, with the primary objective of conserving the rhinoceros population. In the past, Chitwan served as the location for numerous prestigious hunts, attracting European royalty, Indian elites, and high-ranking officials of the British Raj. The Royal Chitwan National Park has garnered acclaim for its remarkable visual beauty and abundant wildlife, establishing itself as one of the most prominent wildlife sanctuaries in Asia. Upon arrival, please proceed to your designated resort where you will have the remainder of the day to enjoy at your leisure.
After breakfast, we get in our Jeeps and head into the Chitwan National Park for a full day of exploring. It is likely that going on a jeep safari in Chitwan is the greatest method to see more animals and get the most out of your time in Chitwan. Chitwan National Park is 932 square kilometers in size, and you'll be covering a lot of that ground during your visit. During the trip, it is almost certain that you will come across a wide variety of unique species of flora and fauna, such as the one-horned rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal tiger, deer, leopards, wild elephants, sloth bears, monkeys, and more than 500 kinds of birds. After the tour, it's time to head back to the hotel.
This morning, embark on a journey to the picturesque town of Pokhara, which is estimated to take approximately 5 hours by car. Pokhara is an exceptional destination renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, offering visitors awe-inspiring panoramic vistas of the majestic Himalayan peaks. The town, located at an elevation of 900 meters, is renowned for its status as a hub of adventure, serving as the starting point for numerous trekking expeditions. The tranquility of lakes fosters a serene atmosphere. Upon arrival, please proceed to your designated resort. The remainder of the day will be free for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Drive with your hike guide from Pokhara to Nayapul. This should take about an hour. Start walking toward Ghandrung along the banks of the Modi River. After about 45 minutes of walking, you'll find Birethanti, a small village. Cross the Birethanti suspended bridge and stay on the left bank of the Modi River. Lunch will be taken en-route. After lunch, the path goes up to Ghandrung, where there is a place to stay for the night. Ghandrung is one of the biggest places in western Nepal where Gurung people live. From here, you can get a good look at Gangapurna, Machhapuchare (Fishtail), Mount Annapurna south, and other snowy mountains. If you have time, you can visit the head office of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a local museum, and a town.
Trek to the top of the ridge at the town of Kumrung, and then slowly go down to the Kimrung River. Lunch will be taken en-route. Chomrong is reached after 3–4 hours of a slow, steady climb.
After breakfast, the path goes down steeply for about 20 minutes to Jhinu Danda, then goes down more slowly to the New bridge over the Modi River. From there, it goes up to the village of Landrung.
Today, it's a simple walk from Landrung to Tolka, where you'll have lunch. From there, it's a short, steep climb to the village of Bhichok. From here, going down to the beautiful town of Dhampus is easy and gradual.
After breakfast, walk along the ridge and down to the valley floor through the woods and terraced fields. (Trekking time 1.5 hours.) When you get to Phedi, drive back to Pokhara. The rest of the day is yours to do as you please.

Win Win Win; Let Raj and team coordinate your journey
Personalized and professional: cannot recommend Raj and his team with Getaway Nepal Adventures highly enough. Raj provides tremendous value. He helped us plan a 12-day trip that covered exactly what we wanted to do. From advising about visas and meeting us at the airport, to staying in touch without ever being intrusive, he always made sure we were settled and had all our questions answered; he kept in close contact throughout, and even called our guides a couple times a day. His team of guides and drivers is excellent (shout out to Shyam and Kaaka!), and they’ve worked together for years. Raj was also able to make adjustments and accommodate last-minute changes to our itinerary seamlessly. Accommodations he chose were top-notch. The cooking class was great. Our trekking guide Shyam taught us how to play Tigers and Goats, treated us to special Nepalese treats in Pokhara, took us to special spots, and was always cheerful.
Raj, I think, is the face of new Nepal; he deserves support, and getting him to help you with your trip will make a journey to Nepal much richer. Whether you are planning a major trek into the mountains or a more sedate touring experience, or go on a retreat and then see the Chitwan park, or just want to buy rugs and thangkot art, his company has years of experience and a wide network of contacts. Five Stars plus.
We love Raj!
I went to Nepal with a team of clinicians and counseling students to provide training and continuing education to a group of social workers and professional counselors working in Nepal with trauma survivors. Raj was incredibly kind and helpful with securing us safe and affordable accommodations and providing us with fun and interesting cultural activities. He organized everything flawlessly and seemingly appeared out of nowhere every time we needed him. He was always early, eager to help, and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area attractions and activities.
When a friend and I stayed for an extra 2 days beyond the rest of our group’s departure, Raj recommended and arranged a trip to Bardia National Park for us. He got us a beautiful room in a wonderful resort which included all meals and 2 jeep safaris. The resort staff were all wonderful and it was clear that Raj had instructed them to treat us well! When we ran into an issue of a misplaced passport on our way home, Raj was on the phone with the embassy and already working to resolve the issue so we could get home. Luckily, we located the passport before we got back to Kathmandu and were able to get home without issue.
I can’t say enough good things about how kind, helpful, and knowledgeable Raj is! I need one of him in every country!
The best guided journey ever!
dear readers, getawayNepal and Raj made Nepal unforgettable for me. I found Getawaynepal through reviews and after one first email from Raj I immediately had confidence in him. During my journey this has only increased. Raj is a sweet, friendly man and always keeps his promises. Above all, he is very flexible, even if you want to change something in the itinerary. He always inquired if I was okay. I indicated what I wanted to do in Nepal and he responded very well to that. The Homestay in Panauti was very nice. The cooking class in momos, the yoga with the women of the village, the evening meeting with a Nepalese dance performance and the walks through the village with the daughter of the house, all equally fun and interesting. Then to the monastery in Namobuddha where I stayed for 6 days. Beautiful surroundings, eating and praying with the monks, and a whole experience. The tours in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with the many historical sites were impressive, hotels were good.
Thank you Raj for your good guidance in every way.
