Tour Overview

This 5 days trip with a short trip to Namche Bazaar and a Private Helicopter Trip to Everest Base Camp with landing at the Kala Pathar is an amazing trip. This short trip leads you to Namche Bazaar, a classic Sherpa settlement and the unofficial capital of the Khumbu region. You'll cross suspension bridges, hike through alpine woods, and visit ancient Buddhist monuments as you travel through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The experience concludes with a helicopter flight over the snow-capped Himalayas, including a stop at the base of the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest.

01

Day 01: Arrival in Nepal

When you arrive at the Kathmandu airport, your guide will be waiting with your name sigh at the exit gate. Your guide will transfer you to the booked hotel and assist you with all hotel check-in procedures, after which you are free to relax. In addition, if time allowed, there will be a brief summary of the entire program.

02

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (8,563 feet / 2,610 m).

After breakfast, you'll take a 30-minute flight to Lukla and land on a steep mountain runway. This is where your trek will begin. Try to get a window seat on the left side of the plane and keep your camera close: The flight goes between mountains and through valleys. On clear days, you can see great views of the Himalaya.

Then, you'll walk a short distance today through local villages, where you might meet other hikers, locals, and yaks with bells. (The first day is meant to be easy so that you can get used to the higher altitude.)

Follow the well-marked trail through the Dudh Koshi Valley and spend the night in Phakding.

03

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (11,290 feet / 3,440 m).

After breakfast in Phakding, you'll begin the steady ascent to Namche. It's a difficult day since you'll start to feel the effects of the altitude. You must also pass a number of tall suspension bridges along the route that span the Dudh Kosi River.

The Sagarmatha National Park, which was established to safeguard and conserve the delicate mountain ecosystem, located just outside the settlement of Monjo (your guide will cover your permit fees here). If the weather is clear, you will catch your first sight of Mount Everest as the trail becomes steeper.

Once you get to Namche, check into your accommodations and start exploring the area. Namche is a fantastic site to restock on supplies because it has lots of little stores selling food and hiking equipment, as well as eateries and pubs. If you visit on a Saturday, check out the Saturday market, which serves as a meeting spot for Tibetan yak caravans and Hindu traders from the lowlands who have both traversed the glaciated Nangpa La.

04

Day 04: Helicopter Trip to Everest Base Camp and return to Kathmandu.

Today, you will be picked up in Namche after an early breakfast for a private helicopter tour of the Himalaya. You will see overhead views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantega, Lhotse, and Nuptse, as well as Everest Base Camp, before returning to Kathmandu.

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be driven to your hotel and have the remainder of the day and evening to visit whatever you may have missed at the start of your tour.

Win Win Win; Let Raj and team coordinate your journey

Personalized and professional: cannot recommend Raj and his team with Getaway Nepal Adventures highly enough. Raj provides tremendous value. He helped us plan a 12-day trip that covered exactly what we wanted to do. From advising about visas and meeting us at the airport, to staying in touch without ever being intrusive, he always made sure we were settled and had all our questions answered; he kept in close contact throughout, and even called our guides a couple times a day. His team of guides and drivers is excellent (shout out to Shyam and Kaaka!), and they’ve worked together for years. Raj was also able to make adjustments and accommodate last-minute changes to our itinerary seamlessly. Accommodations he chose were top-notch. The cooking class was great. Our trekking guide Shyam taught us how to play Tigers and Goats, treated us to special Nepalese treats in Pokhara, took us to special spots, and was always cheerful.

Raj, I think, is the face of new Nepal; he deserves support, and getting him to help you with your trip will make a journey to Nepal much richer. Whether you are planning a major trek into the mountains or a more sedate touring experience, or go on a retreat and then see the Chitwan park, or just want to buy rugs and thangkot art, his company has years of experience and a wide network of contacts. Five Stars plus.

We love Raj!

I went to Nepal with a team of clinicians and counseling students to provide training and continuing education to a group of social workers and professional counselors working in Nepal with trauma survivors. Raj was incredibly kind and helpful with securing us safe and affordable accommodations and providing us with fun and interesting cultural activities. He organized everything flawlessly and seemingly appeared out of nowhere every time we needed him. He was always early, eager to help, and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area attractions and activities.

When a friend and I stayed for an extra 2 days beyond the rest of our group’s departure, Raj recommended and arranged a trip to Bardia National Park for us. He got us a beautiful room in a wonderful resort which included all meals and 2 jeep safaris. The resort staff were all wonderful and it was clear that Raj had instructed them to treat us well! When we ran into an issue of a misplaced passport on our way home, Raj was on the phone with the embassy and already working to resolve the issue so we could get home. Luckily, we located the passport before we got back to Kathmandu and were able to get home without issue.

I can’t say enough good things about how kind, helpful, and knowledgeable Raj is! I need one of him in every country!

The best guided journey ever!

dear readers, getawayNepal and Raj made Nepal unforgettable for me. I found Getawaynepal through reviews and after one first email from Raj I immediately had confidence in him. During my journey this has only increased. Raj is a sweet, friendly man and always keeps his promises. Above all, he is very flexible, even if you want to change something in the itinerary. He always inquired if I was okay. I indicated what I wanted to do in Nepal and he responded very well to that. The Homestay in Panauti was very nice. The cooking class in momos, the yoga with the women of the village, the evening meeting with a Nepalese dance performance and the walks through the village with the daughter of the house, all equally fun and interesting. Then to the monastery in Namobuddha where I stayed for 6 days. Beautiful surroundings, eating and praying with the monks, and a whole experience. The tours in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with the many historical sites were impressive, hotels were good.

Thank you Raj for your good guidance in every way.
