When you arrive at the Kathmandu airport, your guide will be waiting with your name sigh at the exit gate. Your guide will transfer you to the booked hotel and assist you with all hotel check-in procedures, after which you are free to relax. In addition, if time allowed, there will be a brief summary of the entire program.
Early this morning you'll be transferred to Kathmandu's domestic airport for an hour mountain flight trip. It is a scenic flight over the Himalayas, soaring above gorges, glaciers and the snow-capped peaks of this majestic mountain range. After mountain flight trip, back to hotel for breakfast and we leave for cultural tour of Kathmandu valley. First we visit the well-known Boudhanath Stupa. The stupa at Boudhanath is one of the biggest in South Asia. It is 36 meters high. Boudhanath is the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. It is surrounded by a lot of monasteries.
After that, we drive to the Pashupatinath Temple, which is another very popular place to visit. This is one of Nepal's oldest Hindu temples, and it is also known as the country's national temple. We drive to the beautiful city of Patan in the afternoon to take a cooking class with a local. This is a fun, three-hour cooking class where you can learn how to make some traditional dishes and find out about some secret recipes. We can also learn how the food is grown and the names of different vegetables in Nepali.
After breakfast, we take a short flight to Chitwan. It takes 20 minutes to fly. When we get to Chitwan, we drive to The Taj Safari Lodge. The Taj Safari Lodge in Meghauli Serai is in the middle of a pristine jungle. Guests can look up and see a very starry sky over a very large area. After a day of adventure and excitement in the jungle, one of the most relaxing things to do is to watch the stars twinkle in an indigo sky. As your naturalist tells you about the life in the night sky, you can listen to interesting facts and stories.
During their stay at the Taj Meghauli Serai, each guest is welcome to go on one safari game drive. Safari drives leave twice a day and are led by professional naturalists in 4x4 vehicles with theater-style seating.
Chitwan's morning safaris leave just after sunrise, when the jungle starts to wake up. Along with the thrill of looking for tigers, guests will stop for a picnic breakfast that they will never forget. Afternoon safaris last for about two hours and end when the sun goes down.
In Chitwan's thick jungles, there are long stretches of Sal trees with a closed canopy. A safari drive through these areas, where the trees are tall and the sun shines through the thick canopy, is a beautiful thing to do. Guests ride through the jungle in a vehicle made just for safaris with a trained naturalist and an experienced tracker from the local community. The star of Chitwan is the one-horned rhinoceros, which can usually be found in open woods and grasslands. Along with mammals, the forest is home to 56 species of reptiles and amphibians. Monitor lizards and pythons are the most common reptiles and amphibians to see. The Gharial crocodile is a rare species that is in danger of going extinct. While on a safari drive, you can stop by a breeding center for these strange-looking animals.
Guests can see the bigger animals on safari drives and the smaller animals on walking safaris. A canoe ride is a great way to see the unique ecosystem around the rivers and floodplains. Mugger crocodiles and Gharials relaxing on the banks, storks, ducks, kingfishers, otters, turtles, and if you're lucky, even a fishing cat are some of the animals to watch out for. The quiet wooden oar boats are moved by skilled rowers while naturalists talk about the world around the water. The boats have life jackets, and the people who work on them are good swimmers who also act as lifeguards.
A walking safari is perfect for explorers who want to get closer to nature and is free for guests of the Taj Meghauli Serai. Be it the nature trails offered in the buffer zone of the park or a leisurely nature walk, it is an opportunity to get acquainted with the smaller creatures. Butterflies, scurrying dung beetles, and lots of wildflowers are some of the many things that are best seen on foot.
One of the most exciting things to do in Chitwan is to go on a walking safari, which you can do in almost every tourist area. The walking safari is led by some of the best naturalists and trackers in the world. It is an adventure that requires average fitness, and a typical walk can be anywhere from three to six miles long, depending on how many people are taking part. But guests can also ask for a short, easy walk if they want. On a typical walking safari, you will see a mix of thick jungle, grassland, and a body of water. This gives visitors a chance to see animals and birds from different places.
At Meghauli Serai, you can spend time with some gentle giants today. You can get close to elephants by bathing them in the river or feeding them sugarcane and bananas. The naturalist at the lodge can tell you more about these amazing animals.
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and we drive to the airport for a short flight to Pokhara. It is the gateway to the Annapurna region where many a trekker finds his Shangri-La. Pokhara’s spellbinding beauty has been the subject of many travel writers. Its pristine air, the spectacular backdrop of the snowy peaks of the Annapurna Range and the serene Phewa, Begnas and Rupa Lakes, makes this destination ‘the Jewel of the Himalaya’. It is home to exceptionally warm and engaging people.
Arrival in Pokhara, hotel check-in and free time for relaxation.
Pokhara is a perfect place for the relaxation after the trek so today, it is your free day for your own activities. You can relax at the hotel, go for short walk around the lakeside, go for massage or boating trip on the Phewa Lake.
Morning, we drive to the airport for our flight back to Kathmandu. After arrival in Kathmandu, we drive to Dhulikhel, a beautiful beautiful hill station. It is about an hour drive from the airport.
Dwarika's Resort, which draws on the wisdom and holistic lifestyle of the Himalayan region, is influenced by a synthesis of Vedic Philosophy and Buddhist Medicine. This is a tale of bringing harmony to one's own soul, body, and mind. Try out the resort's many spas and fitness centers now.
Participate in meditation and yoga workshops with a large group. You can stop by the Pottery Center and try your hand at pottery in a group session led by the resident craftsman, or you can try your hand at painting in a group session led by the resident artist at the Painting Atelier. Spend 30 minutes talking to the resort's Ayurvedic doctor and then stroll to the farm in Darimbot (1.5 hour hike from the resort). Spend some time at the Himalayan Rock Salt House, where the rock crystal is said to improve mental clarity and help meditators maintain focus. Visit the Meditation Maze or the Garden of the Nine Planets, both of which are excellent destinations. The seven Chakras within the human body are represented by the seven rooms of The Chakra Sound Chambers. The resort also has an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and a fitness center, as well as a Crystal Healing Room.

Win Win Win; Let Raj and team coordinate your journey
Personalized and professional: cannot recommend Raj and his team with Getaway Nepal Adventures highly enough. Raj provides tremendous value. He helped us plan a 12-day trip that covered exactly what we wanted to do. From advising about visas and meeting us at the airport, to staying in touch without ever being intrusive, he always made sure we were settled and had all our questions answered; he kept in close contact throughout, and even called our guides a couple times a day. His team of guides and drivers is excellent (shout out to Shyam and Kaaka!), and they’ve worked together for years. Raj was also able to make adjustments and accommodate last-minute changes to our itinerary seamlessly. Accommodations he chose were top-notch. The cooking class was great. Our trekking guide Shyam taught us how to play Tigers and Goats, treated us to special Nepalese treats in Pokhara, took us to special spots, and was always cheerful.
Raj, I think, is the face of new Nepal; he deserves support, and getting him to help you with your trip will make a journey to Nepal much richer. Whether you are planning a major trek into the mountains or a more sedate touring experience, or go on a retreat and then see the Chitwan park, or just want to buy rugs and thangkot art, his company has years of experience and a wide network of contacts. Five Stars plus.
We love Raj!
I went to Nepal with a team of clinicians and counseling students to provide training and continuing education to a group of social workers and professional counselors working in Nepal with trauma survivors. Raj was incredibly kind and helpful with securing us safe and affordable accommodations and providing us with fun and interesting cultural activities. He organized everything flawlessly and seemingly appeared out of nowhere every time we needed him. He was always early, eager to help, and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area attractions and activities.
When a friend and I stayed for an extra 2 days beyond the rest of our group’s departure, Raj recommended and arranged a trip to Bardia National Park for us. He got us a beautiful room in a wonderful resort which included all meals and 2 jeep safaris. The resort staff were all wonderful and it was clear that Raj had instructed them to treat us well! When we ran into an issue of a misplaced passport on our way home, Raj was on the phone with the embassy and already working to resolve the issue so we could get home. Luckily, we located the passport before we got back to Kathmandu and were able to get home without issue.
I can’t say enough good things about how kind, helpful, and knowledgeable Raj is! I need one of him in every country!
The best guided journey ever!
dear readers, getawayNepal and Raj made Nepal unforgettable for me. I found Getawaynepal through reviews and after one first email from Raj I immediately had confidence in him. During my journey this has only increased. Raj is a sweet, friendly man and always keeps his promises. Above all, he is very flexible, even if you want to change something in the itinerary. He always inquired if I was okay. I indicated what I wanted to do in Nepal and he responded very well to that. The Homestay in Panauti was very nice. The cooking class in momos, the yoga with the women of the village, the evening meeting with a Nepalese dance performance and the walks through the village with the daughter of the house, all equally fun and interesting. Then to the monastery in Namobuddha where I stayed for 6 days. Beautiful surroundings, eating and praying with the monks, and a whole experience. The tours in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with the many historical sites were impressive, hotels were good.
Thank you Raj for your good guidance in every way.
