After mountain flight trip, back to hotel for breakfast and we leave for cultural tour of Kathmandu valley. First we visit the well-known Boudhanath Stupa. 05

Day 05: Bandipur Exploration.

After breakfast we walk to Thani Mai wooden shrine perched atop the steep hill of Gurungche Daada. On a clear morning, the views of the Himalayas from this location are unrivaled, and the village in the foreground provides excellent context. The tudikhel parade ground close to the main market provides an alternative location for dawn, sunset, or any time of the day.

This field is situated on the edge of a cliff from which the views of the mountains and valley below are almost as breathtaking. Other activities include a journey to the huge cave network at Siddha Gupha, the largest cave network in Nepal, which was found in 1987 and may be reached by car or on foot. The Magar village of Ramkot can be reached via a rewarding four-hour trek for the more adventurous. This picturesque town features unique thatched roundhouses and ancient homes with wooden balconies, and it is a spot where time-honored farming practices are being employed.

06

Day 06: Travel to Pokhara (80 Kms / 3 Hrs).

After breakfast, we leave Bandipur and drive about 3 hours to Pokhara. After hotel checked into your hotel, go out and see the town of Pokhara and the area around it. Bindebasini Temple, the World Peace Pagoda, Seti Gorge, David's Fall, Gupteshwor Cave, the Gorkha Museum, and a relaxing boat ride on Fewa Lake are all interesting places and things to do. Please talk to your guide about the options. He or she will let you know what is possible in the time you have.

07

Day 07: Tour around Pokhara valley.

After breakfast this morning, drive about 30 minutes to the Sarangkot viewpoint, which is one of the best places in the area to see a wide view of the mountains and Pokhara and Phewa Lakes. People who get up early might want to leave their hotel before dawn to get to Sarangkot in time to see the sun rise.

After taking in the views, start the 4–5 hour walk through forested hills to Naudanda. Most of the walk is downhill. On the hike, you can expect to see a lot of mountain views, villages, and local people going about their daily lives. The village of Maula, which is halfway up the mountain, has a path up to Kasikot, which was once the capital of the whole Pokhara Valley. Continue to Naudanda, where your driver will be waiting, and take a ride back to your hotel in Pokhara.

08

Day 08: Travel back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we drive to the airport, where we take a 20-minute flight back to Kathmandu.

When we get to Kathmandu, we drive for half an hour to the old city of Bhaktapur. It is one of Nepal's three old kingdoms from the Middle Ages. The Lion Gate and the Palace of 55 Windows are two great examples of architecture that can be seen in the town's main square. Nyatapola Temple is the tallest in all of Nepal. It has a 5-tiered roof and statues of goddesses, animals, and mythical beasts made out of wood.

We go back to our hotel in Kathmandu after our tour of Bhaktapur. In the evening, we plan a dinner to say goodbye. Try a local dish one more time, and talk about what you've learned in Nepal.

Win Win Win; Let Raj and team coordinate your journey

Personalized and professional: cannot recommend Raj and his team with Getaway Nepal Adventures highly enough. Raj provides tremendous value. He helped us plan a 12-day trip that covered exactly what we wanted to do. From advising about visas and meeting us at the airport, to staying in touch without ever being intrusive, he always made sure we were settled and had all our questions answered; he kept in close contact throughout, and even called our guides a couple times a day. His team of guides and drivers is excellent (shout out to Shyam and Kaaka!), and they’ve worked together for years. Raj was also able to make adjustments and accommodate last-minute changes to our itinerary seamlessly. Accommodations he chose were top-notch. The cooking class was great. Our trekking guide Shyam taught us how to play Tigers and Goats, treated us to special Nepalese treats in Pokhara, took us to special spots, and was always cheerful.

Raj, I think, is the face of new Nepal; he deserves support, and getting him to help you with your trip will make a journey to Nepal much richer. Whether you are planning a major trek into the mountains or a more sedate touring experience, or go on a retreat and then see the Chitwan park, or just want to buy rugs and thangkot art, his company has years of experience and a wide network of contacts. Five Stars plus.

We love Raj!

I went to Nepal with a team of clinicians and counseling students to provide training and continuing education to a group of social workers and professional counselors working in Nepal with trauma survivors. Raj was incredibly kind and helpful with securing us safe and affordable accommodations and providing us with fun and interesting cultural activities. He organized everything flawlessly and seemingly appeared out of nowhere every time we needed him. He was always early, eager to help, and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area attractions and activities.

When a friend and I stayed for an extra 2 days beyond the rest of our group’s departure, Raj recommended and arranged a trip to Bardia National Park for us. He got us a beautiful room in a wonderful resort which included all meals and 2 jeep safaris. The resort staff were all wonderful and it was clear that Raj had instructed them to treat us well! When we ran into an issue of a misplaced passport on our way home, Raj was on the phone with the embassy and already working to resolve the issue so we could get home. Luckily, we located the passport before we got back to Kathmandu and were able to get home without issue.

I can’t say enough good things about how kind, helpful, and knowledgeable Raj is! I need one of him in every country!

The best guided journey ever!

dear readers, getawayNepal and Raj made Nepal unforgettable for me. I found Getawaynepal through reviews and after one first email from Raj I immediately had confidence in him. During my journey this has only increased. Raj is a sweet, friendly man and always keeps his promises. Above all, he is very flexible, even if you want to change something in the itinerary. He always inquired if I was okay. I indicated what I wanted to do in Nepal and he responded very well to that. The Homestay in Panauti was very nice. The cooking class in momos, the yoga with the women of the village, the evening meeting with a Nepalese dance performance and the walks through the village with the daughter of the house, all equally fun and interesting. Then to the monastery in Namobuddha where I stayed for 6 days. Beautiful surroundings, eating and praying with the monks, and a whole experience. The tours in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with the many historical sites were impressive, hotels were good.

Thank you Raj for your good guidance in every way.
